our story
Cheryl Ma
I think I met Christopher sometime in 7th grade. He was the "new kid from China," but other than that, I don't really remember who he was. I knew of him, but we definitely weren't friends like he seems to think.
In high school, we started to talk to each other more often when we spent our evenings chatting online. He was 'ralphfrog'. I was 'chairol'. We weren't "in person friends," but we did share mutual classes.
I think I knew something was up when I lost my graphing calculator for the third time and Christopher used his shady hookups to get me a new one. We started dating soon after. In the decade since (yes...decade), we've spent countless hours on the phone while 500 miles apart, we've seen dozens of sporting events (I was a willing spectator), and eaten at hundreds of restaurants together (Christopher learned early on that not keeping me well fed wasn't an option).
I'm so excited that I'm going to get to spend the rest of my life with someone as funny, nerdy (in a good way), thoughtful, and aware-of-my-hunger as Christopher is. I couldn't ask for more.

Let's see. My first memory of Cheryl is from 7th grade. I walked into Mrs. Lee's science class and saw a bunch of girls giggling in the corner. I saw Cheryl and thought, "That's the girl I'm going to marry some day." Ok, no. That's not true. I thought, "That girl's weird. I like it."
Years and years passed. Cheryl learned I wasn't just "the new kid from China" and I confirmed that she was, indeed, weird. And I did, indeed, like it. We were fast friends, but I of course wanted more. I conned her into going on a "date" with me (I'm not sure she knew it was a date). And she drove. And we went to see Lord of the Rings. I knew it was meant to be.
More years passed. Yes. Yes. Many years. Those years taught me that Cheryl must have really been into me because she really isn't into Lord of the Rings. Even still, every day of those many years, I've counted my blessings that somehow the most beautiful, goofy, smart, hungry girl I've ever met agreed to go out with me. And I can't wait to count those blessings again and again for the rest of my life when I get to call her my wife.
